The Symptoms and Dangers of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Carbon monoxide poisoning is a very real threat to all of us. We all have appliances in our homes that use oil, coal, wood or gas. Unfortunately it is not always easy to determine when it is around, as it has no smell, taste or color, so there are no obvious signs that we are in danger until the actual symptoms present themselves to us.
CO poisoning has the following symptoms that one needs to be aware of:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fatigue and tiredness
- Dizziness
- Symptoms of flu
- Headaches and even migraines
- Pain in the stomach
- Blurred vision
- Difficulty in breathing and chest pains
- Rapid mood swings
Many of these symptoms are attributed to some other problem, so it is important to not make a wrong judgement call. Carbon monoxide poisoning is a very serious business!
There is nothing better than being prepared for such a case. Having a proper carbon monoxide alarm in the house is the most sensible thing to do. This will give you peace of mind that your house is safe from such poisoning.
To install such a device you need somebody with proper training for it. Don’t attempt to do it by yourself. Also you need to verify your system at least once a year. Many people who have these installed in their homes and are still exposed to these gases only later realize that their system failed them, as they were no longer functioning properly.
